Résumé : Christian Knorr von Rosenroth (1636-1689) was a major Christian Kabbalist of the Seventeenth Century and the author of the Kabbala denudata, an extensive anthology of kabbalistic texts from the Lurianic tradition. The recent recovery of a manuscript of his entitled Historiae evangelicae initium secundum quatuor Evangelistas which has not previously received any scholarly attention sheds new light on Christian Knorr’s involvement as a Christian Kabbalist, and also contributes to a re-evaluation of the relationship between Western Esotericism, Early Modern thought and the raising of a new discipline of the study of religions. This lecture aims at presenting this new work of von Rosenroth and at exploring his conception of God, in the context of inter-religious contacts between Judaism and Christianity, in the context of Christian Kabbalah.
