Résumé : Symmetrically ring‐substituted stilbene meso dibromides are dehalogenated by iodide ions in acetone with rates depending on the substituent. The HAMMETT pσ correlation for this E2 concerted elimination is however a curve showing a well‐defined minimum (fig. 1) rather than a straight line.
