Résumé : Coprolalic behaviour such as it is observed in a number of patients suffering from Gilles de la Tourette's disease as well as in some hyperekplectic patients, seems to have a subcortical, and, more specifically limbic, origin. Every language user appears to have limbic vocabulary. In healthy subjects, this vocabulary is used only under the influence of affects. In hyperekplectic patients, it can be activated by unexpected sensory stimuli. In patients suffering from Tourette's syndrome with coprolalies, the limbic system spontaneously causes verbal ejaculations.
