Résumé : | The dissociation constant ka of the anilinium ion in formamide has been determined at several temperatures between 20 and 45°C by two independent methods. The spectrophotometric determination of ka and the potentiometric method using a cell without transference gave results which are in good agreement except at 45°C, although the measurements are difficult due to a secondary transamination reaction between the anilinium ion and formamide. This agreement give additional confirmation to the standard potentials of the Ag; AgCl reference electrodes in formamide as previously determined for the temperature range of 20 to 40°C. Furthermore ka of anilinium ion appears to be a factor four larger in formamide than in water. The slope of the linear plot of ka against T−1 is nearly identical in both solvents.
