Résumé : This paper focuses on the poetic topic of "Priapus and the four seasons", which plays an important role in the two first Priapea of the Appendix Vergiliana (84 and 85 [Bücheler-Heraeus]). The same topic is also present, with a different and more limited scope, in the third of the Priapea (86 [B.-H.]) and at the very beginning only of poem 63 (B.-H.) of the Corpus Priapeorum. An in-depth comparison of the way the topic is used in these poems sheds some interesting light on the origins of the Priapea of the Appendix, hence indirectly on the date of their composition. The lessons learned from this analysis also confirm that these poems are an independent production from the Corpus Priapeorum.
