| Résumé : | Le traducteur manque fréquemment d’informations pratiques quant à l’usage du terme technique dans la langue cible, le français en l’occurrence. Il éprouve, de même, des difficultés à défricher le réseau des liens sémantiques qui structurent les diverses notions de sous-domaines toujours plus spécialisés. Les terminologies scientifiques sont trop souvent mal délimitées, incohérentes dans les méthodologies qui ont présidé à leur élaboration et bricolées dans leurs mises jour. Ceci ne facilite guère l’accès au système de connaissance. Le projet de recherche relève de la linguistique appliquée aux langues de haute spécialité. Ce projet vise à créer un instrument d’observation des terminologies scientifiques à partir des lieux de création et d’innovation que sont les grands centres de recherche universitaire. Il débouchera sur la création de microglossaires informatisés unifiant par un réseau sémantiques les notions d’un sous-domaine particulier et décrivant leur usage. Il aboutira également à la mise au point d’une méthode scientifique qui permette d’établir une typologie du vocabulaire et de la syntaxe des langues de spécialité. |
| Translators often lack practical information about how a technical term is used in the target language, in this case French. They also find it difficult to understand the network of semantic links that structure the various concepts in increasingly specialised sub-fields. Scientific terminologies are all too often poorly delimited, inconsistent in the methodologies used to develop them and somewhat haphazard in the way they are updated. This hardly facilitates access to the knowledge system. The research project comes under the heading of applied linguistics for highly specialised languages. The aim of the project is to create a tool for observing scientific terminology from the vantage point of creation and innovation, i.e. the major university research centres. It will lead to the creation of computerised microglossaries that use a semantic network to unify the concepts of a particular sub-domain and describe how they are used. It will also lead to the development of a scientific method for establishing a typology of the vocabulary and syntax of specialist languages. |
