Résumé : Fernand Khnopff represents a key example in the history of cultural transfers between Brussels and Vienna. Though Vienna occupies a central place for the painter, London actually prevails in Khnopff’s imagination. This chapter argues that the painter’s connection with Vienna was impacted by his anglophile disposition. It looks into neglected sources of the painter’s presence in Austria, which are the articles he published in Viennese periodicals. The number of texts published attests the reach and the degree of celebrity obtained by the artist within the Austrian art market. It also reveals an artist’s voice that deploys a refined erudition on English culture. Even if these articles tend to overshadow Khnopff’s own artwork, they certainly help define his artistic identity in the press.
