Résumé : Noninvasive explorations of the pulmonary circulation and the right heart in clinical practice essentially rely on echocardiography, MRI, and CT scanning of the chest. Echocardiography has an established role for the detection, differential diagnosis, and follow- up of pulmonary hypertension. MRI provides excellent 3- dimensional imaging, allowing for measurements of right ventricle volume and mass with great accuracy. In addition, it provides a tool to measure pulmonary artery flow. CT scanning is currently mainly used for the detection of underlying lung disease and the diagnosis of pulmonary thromboembolism. Novel advances in echocardiography and MRI offers the potential to provide measures of right ventricular and pulmonary vascular function in a realistic way.
