Résumé : THE study of human kidney function has been largely indirect, based on clearance studies and interpretation of data from more direct approaches on other animal species. Extrapolation from one species to another, however, is not always justified and the need for accurate information on human kidney function is still great. Obviously, several ethical and practical factors severely limit the use of direct studies (such as micropuncture) on the human kidney. © 1974 Nature Publishing Group.
