Résumé : Can we be equals yet different from each other? Simultaneously demanding equal rights and the recognition of each person's singularity discloses two opposite yet interlinked exigencies. The challenge involved in thinking through this apparent antinomy dissolves the possibility of considering that being a man or a woman means being complementary to the other and being what is missing from the other. How do we then apprehend ourselves as sexual agents? Do we have to eschew "sex" in favor of "gender"? What becomes then of our sexual identity? This is the topic of this article.
