Résumé : Procaine, tetracaine, lidocaine, prilocaine, mepivacaine and bupivacaine inhibited glucose stimulated insulin secretion. Tetracaine inhibition of glucose induced insulin release from rat pancreatic tissue in vitro was not reversed by increasing K+ ion concentration of the incubation medium, but addition of dibutyryl cAMP and caffeine partially restored the effect of glucose on insulin secretion. Caffeine and dibutyryl cAMP did not enhance the insulinotropic effect of glucose in the presence of bupivacaine. The possibility that local anesthetics might act on pancreatic insulin secretory mechanisms by different modes is discussed.
