Résumé : RNA synthesis was analyzed in previtellogenic oocytes of about 120 μm diameter of Xenopus laevis. Follicle cells were removed, and germinal vesicles and cytoplasm were separated by micromanipulation. RNA was analyzed by gel filtration on Sephadex G-100 and by electrophoresis in agarose gels. The previtellogenic oocytes synthesize mostly low molecular weight RNA (4 S and 5 S RNA) and nonribosomal, high molecular weight RNA. The metabolism of these two RNA classes is discussed. Synthesis of rRNA seems to be very low. © 1974 Academic Press, Inc.
