Résumé : Numerous industrial materials like composites or masonry may be at the same time strongly heterogeneous and subjected to important flexural effects at the structural scale. Their full fine-scale modelling with an explicit representation of all the heterogeneities by means of a classical application of the finite element method unfortunately requires large computational efforts. In this paper a macroscopic beam representation accounting for structural scale localisation is used in a coupling with a multi-scale framework based on computational homogenisation, using a simplified homogenisation scheme. An application is given to illustrate the potential benefits brought by this type of approach, and potential extensions are discussed. © 2006 Civil-Comp Press.
