Résumé : In order to determine the place in the treatment of oral carcinomas, results in 368 treated from 1961 to 1968 were analysed and compared with data from the literature. Surgery has the same efficiency as radiotherapy for early lesions T1 and T2. For extensive lesions T3, T4, surgery associated to radio and chemotherapy increases the 5 yr survival rate. Radical neck dissection is the best treatment for metastatic adenopathies. After failure of nonsurgical treatments, surgery will make up for a substantial percentage of cases.
