Résumé : In the final analysis, sexology and responsible parenthood are integrating parts of what is nowadays called mother and child protection and of the protection of the family which is regarded as the essential and indivisible unit of humanity. In this light it is impossible to separate the elements that compose it, which are: sex education, preparation for marriage, the prenuptial examination, marriage guidance, problems of sterility and pre- the surveillance of pregnancy, childbirth and its preparation, and pre and neonatal pediatrics and pediatrics of early childhood. As regards contraception, while admittedly its scientific and objective aspects should not be ignored, it should, however, always be kept in mind that contraception can only be practised with success if it is accepted and integrated as an ingredient of sex life, of the reproductive function and of the protection of mother and child. Contraception practised from any other point of view is doomed to failure.
