Résumé : Small fresh-water sponges, cultivated in vitro, were dried by the critical point technique, dissected and observed by the scanning electronmicroscope (SEM) to observe the external appearance of the most typical sponge cell types. On topographic and morphologic bases only, it was possible to identify the following cell types: exo- and baso-pinacocytes, lophocytes, choanocytes and amebocytes. The particular features of these cells as revealed by the SEM are described and discussed.
