Résumé : A programme of isolation of peptide fractions from pituitrin and from crude neurophysin complex from porcine and bovine posterior lobes, with double blind estimation of natriuretic and other pharmacological activities as the criterion of isolation, has resulted in the purification of a linear tridecapeptide from a peak of natriuretic activity from the bovine source. This molecule is most probably the 1-13 N terminal fragment of ACTH. Synthetic approximations are not very natriuretic per se when tested in the same standardized cat assay, but potentiate the natriuretic activity of very small dosages of vasopressin.
