Résumé : Campylobacter pylori (Cp) is rarely observed in normal gastric mucosa and is associated with chronic type B gastritis which was shown to be partly or totally reversible after clearance or eradication of the organism. Nevertheless, the benefit of current bi- and tritherapies with antibacterial drugs remains questionable as far as symptoms are concerned: most of Cp carriers have no symptom, complaints of symptomatic carriers are not specific and therapeutic trials brought no consistent conclusion. To get a better approach of these problems, an easy to use, safe and efficient drug would be very useful and must be developed because the eradication of Cp was proven to significantly reduce the relapsing rate in duodenal ulcer disease.
