Résumé : An approximate filtered backprojection (FBP) algorithm for image reconstruction for helical beam computerized tomography (CT) is presented. The FBP algorithm is extended such that the redundant data outside the PI detector window can be freely utilized to improve the noise performances. The application of this algorithm involves the filtering being performed row-by-row in 1-D and the backprojection in 3-D. The proposed algorithm also allows to freely choose the length of helix segment that is used to reconstruct each transaxial slice.
