Résumé : | Chromatographic study (on amberlite IRC-50) of the homogeneity of preparations of ribonuclease shows that the various fractions that can be obtained correspond to different oxido-reduction states of the same protein edifice. These fractions are interconvertible by oxidation (H2O2, oxidized glutathione) and by reduction (H2S, reduced glutathione). With this method, it is possible to separate oxidized RNase from RNase constaining two -SH groups per molecule. The fact that different fractions are obtained from the same protein solution, by choromatography, does not necessarily signify that profoundly different proteic species are present. © 1954. |
