Résumé : The documentary stock of the Parliament of Flanders provides a certain number of files that bear testimony to violent conflicts revolving around issues of precedence. Precedence appears indeed as a tangible sign of belonging to the elite, a sign that is primarily sought after by those whose position is threatened. The response given by the Parliament of Flanders to these cases seems essentially political and illustrates the conception of power that predominated in the Ancien Régime : through these cases it is the royal power and authority that are re-asserted, particularly over the body of the city officials.
