Résumé : Degradation of holarrhenin by the Hofmann and Emde reactions results in an hydroxy-5α-pregnane identical with the 12β-hydroxy-5α-pregnane prepared from hecogenin; this definitely establishes the structure of holarrhenin as 12β-hydroxyconessin. The quaternization of apoholarrhenin by methyl iodide in methanol results in cyclization with reestablishment of the primitive pyrrolidin system of holarrhenin. © 1959.
