Résumé : The limiting law at infinite dilution for the change of surface tension of a solvent due to the addition of a strong electrolyte is derived in the most general case from the linearized Poisson-Boltzmann equation. The analytic form of the limiting law is shown to be extremely sensitive to the value of the dielectric permittivities of the solvent and the surrounding medium. The limiting law previously derived by Onsager and Samaras is recovered as a special case. © 1957.
