Résumé : | Stacking complexes between DNA or DNA nucleotides and proflavine were studied by E.S.R. spectroscopy after γirradiation. The final radiation damage was found to be completely localized on the dye even when the nucleotide: proflavine molar ratio greatly exceeded the equimolar ratio. According to a model which we suggested previously, these results are explained by the random formation of anionic radicals followed by a long-range electron transfer via the stacking towards the constituents of greatest electron affinity. © 1970 Informa UK Ltd All rights reserved: reproduction in whole or part not permitted. |
