Résumé : The coverage of large skin defects in one operating time has always been one of the most difficult problems in reconstructive surgery. Ideas and techniques have evolved slowly, from skin grafts to free flaps. The development of microsurgery, closely related to progress in anesthesia and reanimation and a logical consequence of advances in vascular surgery, offers new possibilities whose limits are still to be discovered.
