Rapport
Résumé : This publication presents the results of the Brussels Master Class 2013 “End Of Line, Combining Housing, Facilities and Transport Infrastructure in Brussels”, organized from Oct. 28 to Nov. 8 by Louise (Laboratory for Urbanism, Infrastructure and Ecologies, Faculté d'Architecture de l'ULB) and Cosmopolis (Centre for Urban Research, VUB) with the support of the Secretary of State in charge of Urbanism for the Brussels-Capital Region. Architecture practice URA (BE) and consultancy agency Mobility In Chain (IT) provided guidance to 43 architecture students from around the globe in a research on the potential catalyst roles of transport infrastructures such as tram/metro depots and park & rides in the city. The proposals developed here on five sites in Brussels show exemplary approaches to develop infrastructural needs into complex urban settings, approaches which can inspire Brussels and other metropolises to consider their infrastructural necessities as opportunities to develop new beacons in the cityscape, on a large or local scale.
