Résumé : | Conceived in a functionalist perspective, land planning in Belgium was only implemented late. Nowadays the Regions are the only competent authority in this matter. A first answer to the weakness of the urban frame in Wallonia and to the Region's lack of high qualitative level tertiary sector was to be found in the 1980s' project of axing the structuring of the Walloon spatial pattern along a kind of «poly-city »extending from Mons to Verviers. A second project, originating in the early 1990s, emphasizes on the contrary the plural nature of the Walloon space and determines transborder and transregion spheres of dynamics. Will these ideas materialize in the future regional master scheme? |
