Résumé : | The antidepressant and anxiolytic activity of Sinequan (doxepin) IM in depressive/anxious patients was evaluated in a group of 30 inpatients. After a 6 day treatment, the biphasic activity of the drug is already clearly seen, since the improvement of the depressive state, of the mood and of the anxiety (Hamilton depression scale) is approximately 50%. Compared with amitriptyline, no significant difference is seen, apart from a tendency to cause fewer side effects. Because of changes in the mood and anxiety levels which are quite parallel in the first 6 days of treatment, it is suggested that these 2 variables are closely linked in the depression/anxiety states, an observation which raises the problem of how to grade them specifically in psychopharmacological trials. |
