Résumé : More than twenty years have lapsed since the first endoscopic procedures were performed in pediatric patients. The improvements in the instrumentation are reported and also their influence on the development of pediatric GI endoscopy. A critical approach to the existing models and specifications for further adaptations are studied. The yield of diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy is analysed through basic questions concerning the procedure. The training of pediatric endoscopists is also taken into account. Finally alternatives and an insight on future developments of pediatric endoscopy are given. © 1994 Springer-Verlag.
