Résumé : Analysis of the ultrastructural localization of 5' nucleotidase in preimplantation period of the mouse revealed that the enzyme is present on the plasma membrane of the uncleaved egg, whether fertilized or not. This surface activity decreases until stage VIII, to rapidly intensify in the morula and blastocyst, covering the entire outer membrane of the trophectoderm. Membrane activity was also detected at all stages in the interblastomeric furrows and was seen to increase gradually to the blastocyst stage. Intracytoplasmic isolated localizations are always present, but increase at stage VIII, from which an activity also appears in the crystalloid plates and in the nuclei. The functional significance of these enzymic localizations is discussed.
