Résumé : The authors studied retrospectively 416 tomodensitometric thoracic investigations controlled by autopsy, surgery or a specific evolution. This study (August 76-April 79) allows an appraisal of tomodensitometry from the therapeutic point of view. The authors thus objectivate the significant contributions of tomodensitometry in relation to their influence on the therapeutic decisions. The main indications of thoracic tomodensitometry are concerned with the determination of the operability of malignant tumors visualized through classical radiology and with the detection or exclusions of pulmonary metastasis. The CAT scanner is also very useful in demonstrating pulmonary lesions situated in poorly visualized areas through classical radiology as well as for the study of mediastinal and parietal lesions.
