Résumé : The mean-field methods based on effective two-body interactions have made considerable progresses in the last ten years. They can be systematically applied to any region of the nuclear chart, with a self-consistent treatment of all the particles. This is especially important for odd nuclei, where polarization effects due to the unpaired nucleon cannot be neglected. More recently, methods based on a mean-field approach but including extra correlations have been developed. The results obtained by two of them are compared for 188Pb. © 2005 American Institute of Physics.
