Résumé : The application of methods of electrochemical thermodynamics and electrochemical kinetics to the study of 'occluded corrosion cells o. c. c. ' and to the determination of the 'protection potential against the propagation of localized corrosion' have been useful for the understanding of the phenomena of pitting corrosion of copper in cold water and for the setting-up of remedies against this corrosion. Further research may help, notably to set up new steels and new non-ferrous alloys with improved resistance to localized corrosion, as well as to hydrogen embrittlement, intergranular corrosion and stress corrosion cracking.
