Résumé : It has been shown that frog embryos contain free hypoxanthine and guanine. These purines are present in the mature oocytes and begin to disappear at the following early gastrulation. An appreciable synthesis of ATP begins to take place at the tailbud stage. A hypothesis is formulated as to the probable rôle of free purines in nucleic acid synthesis. © 1951 Birkhäuser Verlag.
