| Résumé : | En la sociedad romana, rígidamente estructurada, varias eran las vías para conseguir una promoción a los estratos superiores. Para poder examinar con mayor nitidez este largo proceso de ascenso social, se va a tomar como perspectiva el análisis del matrimonio. En efecto, los enlaces resultan clave para entenderlo porque abren perspectivas y ofrecen contactos, gracias a los nuevos parientes con los que se entabla una alianza. Todo esto subraya a la par el papel fundamental de la mujer a ese respecto, como nexo de unión entre las familias. En este trabajo, voy a presentar ejemplos tomados principalmente de Italia, de enlaces entre familias que contaron por un lado con miembros de las élites locales en su seno y con equites Romani por el otro, para averiguar en qué medida los matrimonios fueron beneficiosos para los contrayentes y sus allegados.In the strictly structured Roman society there were without any doubt several paths to achieve upward mobility. In order to clearly consider this sometimes long-term process, marriage proved undoubtedly to be the best key to its understanding due to the prospects and the contacts created thanks to the new relatives with whom links are established. This additionally emphasizes the leading role of women as a tie between the families. In this paper, I will expose cases taken from Italy illustrating marital links between families in which some individuals were members of the local elite, on the one hand, and some others with Roman knights among them, on the other hand, so that we can determine to what extent marriage was beneficial for both the contracting party and their relatives. |
