Résumé : The principle of the method of measuring consolidation developed by the authors consists in measuring, by means of strain-gauges, the deformation of the osteosynthetic material for a defined solidification which will be repeated at different times. It is possible to associate the evolution of the callus with a curve of deformity of the implant. This curve has an undeniable prognostic value. For fractures which develop normally the authors return to the hyperbolic shape of the curve revealed by the theoretical and experimental evidence. This shape is not a characteristic of the evolution of the callus but is due to the mechanical properties of the system. The curves obtained normally show 2 or 3 segments whose characteristics represent the evolution of the callus. The authors report their experience in 97 cases.
