Résumé : It appears that during the first month after a fracture treated by Hoffmann fixation, the potentials recorded on the pin proximal to the fracture site are significantly different from the potential measured during the rest of the evolution. These early potentials are negative. However, no correlation could be found between the electric phenomena and the mechanical healing. The potentials measured can be influenced by different factors: osteolysis, corrosion, polarization of the pins and potentials of the soft tissues. The relationship between the electric potentials of the bone and the pin potentials appears difficult to establish.
