| Résumé : | For 20 years, capillary electrophoresis has become a major tool in clinical laboratories. In protein analysis, the great diversity of separation principles has allowed it to replace classical electrophoresis and to compete with liquid chromatography. Since the very beginning, this technique has been applied to haemoglobin analysis, firstly to separate abnormal forms, then to quantify minor fractions. This article reviews the different capillary electrophoresis methods that have been developed for the separation and the quantification of hemoglobin fractions or of its basic elements. © 2005 Elsevier SAS.
