Résumé : The teaching of anthropology has long focused on the study of the differences between human groups, and neglected the analysis of the variability inherent to all populations. It oriented itself to a typological thinking that tends naturally to highlight the variability between populations, while minimising intrapopulational variability (i.e., variability within a population). Being different is inherent in our human (cf. animal) nature and not a sign of inequality. The major differences are generally within populations and not between them. We are 6 billion people, all different and enriched by our differences. Why would homogeneity bring us more happiness? Humanity supports these differences and tolerance to difference should remain our leitmotiv: a tolerance that is not only cultural and philosophical, but which also implies respect for our biological differences. © 2010 Nova Science Publishers, Inc.
