Résumé : The number of antimicrobial products has largely increased and their mode of action on different kinds of microorganisms has been specified. The concept of pathogens has changed, the terminology concerning antiseptics and disinfectants is now conventional, and consequently the methods have to be adapted to this evolution. Some proposals are made to guide the choice of criteria for these methods.
