Résumé : Proposes a new method to extract the masses of the components of single-lined spectroscopic binary stars. This approach is based on the Richardson-Lucy iterative inversion technique. First, the authors apply this method to derive the mass-ratio distribution from a mass-function distribution assuming a constant mass of the primary. Then, the authors generalize the method in order to derive the distribution of the companion mass given a certain distribution of the primary mass. The method proves to be easy to implement, mathematically founded, and at the same time very efficient. The authors present applications to three cases of astrophysical interest.
