Résumé : We discuss the impact of phase transitions in dense nuclear matter on the maximum mass of cold isolated neutron stars. The nucleonic part of the equation of state (EoS) relies on the most up-to-date Skyrme nuclear energy density functionals. It is found that a softening of the dense matter EoS due to phase transitions is not necessarily incompatible with the existence of massive neutron stars.
