Résumé : The iodine(+1) reduction by hydrogen peroxide is catalyzed by different buffers and its rate is a complicated function of the acidity and of the iodide concentration. The seemingly inconsistent published experimental results are reanalyzed and a new kinetic model is proposed. A key step is the catalysis by the buffers of the formation of the intermediate compound IOOH. This model reconciles the previous works.
