Résumé : In this chapter, we outline the significance of our focus on the perspectives and experiences of 1.5-generation migrant children who moved during their school age from the Philippines to different countries (France, Italy, Canada, U.S., Australia and Japan). At the same time as examining recent works on migrant children, we take a closer look at the agency of these migrants and their own construction of migratory lives. We also explain here the theoretical and methodological originality and strength of the edited volume: its focus on the “1.5 generation”, its examination of childhood and migration through the lens of mobilities, and its comparative approach. Unlike most works in the immigration literature that compare the experiences of immigrants with different national origins in a single country, we focus on one group of migrant children with the same national origin but living in different countries. By comparing ethnographic descriptions of their lived experiences in various settings, we attempt to highlight the contingent, relational and contextual nature of sociality and identification of migrant children.
