| According to China's Ambassador in Berlin Shi Mingde, "pragmatic cooperation between Germany and China is playing a leading role in China-EU relations". Symbolized by numerous diplomatics comings and goings, and by fruitful trade, this "special relation" between China and Germany bases above all on their economic symbiosis. Whereas the European Union (EU) tries to develop a common and coherent strategic approach towards China, the context of the euro crisis strengthened the Chinese preference to a German partner perceived as the main European economic and political player. Between cooperation and competition, as illustrated by the case of solar panels, is the China-Germany relationship growing at the risk of Europe? |
