Résumé : The success of non-invasive ventilation (NIV) is primarily based on good clinical indicators. Three important parameters are involved — the ventilator, the mask and the patient. The choice of the equipment used will therefore be based on several criteria, such as, patient’s face profile, pathology and comorbidities, and even to some extent the expected duration of ventilation. Nowadays, a large collection of interface is available. When the choice was finally made on a mask, several technical criteria related to it must be observed. The good knowledge of all these aspects will lead to higher chances of success.
