Résumé : This technique consists in injecting 80 to 100 ml of contrast medium intravenously in 3-4 sec. under pressure followed by the same quantity of physiological saline. The examination involves an angiographic phase with arterial, parenchymatous and venous timing, an early timed pyelographic phase and a late pyelographic phase. The technique was used in 146 hypertensive patients. In nearly 80% of the cases, the quality of arterial timing gave a clear picture of the abdominal aorta and the main trunks of the renal arteries as far as their hilar bifurcation. Because of its safety and the information it provides on the vascularization, morphology and functional capacities of the urinary system, this method may be successfully employed for the systematic screening of hypertensives.
