Résumé : The Belgian project for the prevention of cardiovascular diseases represents the controlled trial of a multifactorial prevention of coronary heart disease in an industrial area in which people aged from 40 to 59 years participated. The study showed that the extent of knowledge and also the attitude towards prevention of cardiovascular diseases was much more strongly pronounced in leading employees and executives than in workers. The studies also showed that introvert persons have a positive attitude to preventive measures which is much less marked in extroverts. The results of the study after 6 years supervision seem to confirm the fact that maintaining a hypotensive treatment depends essentially on the physician in charge and on the level of the initial systolic pressure.
