Production of heavy spallation hyperfragments from the interactions of 800 MeV/c K- mesons with emulsion nuclei

Résumé :

The experimental results of a detailed analysis of the interactions of 800 MeV/c K- mesons which contain hyperfragments are presented. From this analysis the mean mass and charge numbers of the heavy spallation hyperfragments have been estimated. The mean momentum imparted to the "observed" heavy hyperfragments has been found to be of the order of 1000 MeV/c. A model has been considered in order to obtain some estimate of the relative contribution of the cascade and evaporation processes to the final momenta of "observable" heavy spallation hyperfragments. © 1965.
