Résumé : The total RNA content of different genotypes of Drosophila melanogaster has been determined for the purpose of detecting a possible correlation between these two characteristics. No significant difference has been observed between normal males and males without Y chromosome. The minute phenotype shows a lowered RNA/total N ratio compared with the sib non-minute phenotype. It is worth mentioning that an important RNA release from all imaginal tissues (including muscles) occurs immediately after eclosion. Consequently, the total RNA content of the males decreases while in the females this loss is compensated by RNA synthesis in the ovaries. © 1953 Birkhäuser Verlag.
